The bigger picture

Why this matters now

The PE and school sport funding model is changing, and expectations around quality, evidence and value are rising. Schools need practical ways to review provision, organise evidence and decide what to keep, change or build next. Apex gives you toolkits to get organised quickly, and review calls, mentoring or consultancy if you want support applying them.

Who we help

Three audiences. One clear next step.

Choose the route that fits your situation, then send a little context or complete a short form. Apex will recommend the most useful next step in writing. If a call would help, we can arrange one.

For Providers

Prove your value. Protect your school income.

As providers grow, quality can become harder to evidence, repeat and maintain across different staff, schools and settings. Apex helps you prove your value, protect school relationships and build systems that support consistent quality.

For Coaches & PE Staff

Become a calmer, clearer, more confident deliverer.

Qualifications rarely cover the practical side of delivery: planning, setting up, managing groups, adapting and reflecting. Apex's focused 4-week mentoring programme builds that craft, for individual coaches or a whole staff group.

Mentorship · individuals from £50pp · organisations from £395

Coach & PE Staff Mentoring: a focused 4-week programme

For coaches, teachers, TAs, apprentices and PE / school sport staff who want to improve confidence, organisation and delivery quality. Starts with a self-assessment so the support is focused on you.

This is for you if…
  • You're confident in your sport but not in running a strong session
  • Sessions can feel rushed, chaotic or hard to control
  • You were left unsupported after qualifying
Before the programme
Pre-programme

Self-assessment & confidence check

A short self-assessment before the programme begins, so the support is focused where it's needed most.

The 4-week programme
Week 1 · Set the Standard

Coaching Foundations & Setting Up for Success

"Better delivery starts before the session begins."

Minimum standards, what good delivery looks like, and setting the session up properly before pupils arrive.

Week 2 · Plan and Organise

Planning, Organisation & Session Setup

"Good planning makes delivery feel calmer, clearer and easier to control."

Planning with purpose: structure, space, equipment, timings, transitions, safety and preparation.

Week 3 · Adapt and Include

Progression, Behaviour & Inclusion

"A good session is not one that goes perfectly. It is one the coach can adapt when needed."

Progressing and adapting activities, managing behaviour, and supporting mixed ability groups and SEND.

Week 4 · Reflect and Improve

Reflection, Standards & Next Steps

"The best coaches do not just deliver. They review, adjust and improve."

Reflection, professional standards, action planning and continued improvement.

After completion
After completion

Light post-programme check-in

A check-in email 1 to 2 weeks after completion, prompting you to review your action plan and note early progress.

You receive the 4-week programme, practical resources for planning, setup, behaviour and adapting, an action plan for continued improvement, and the post-programme check-in email. Optional add-on: Observation & Feedback, including live observation, video review, session-plan review and written feedback, priced separately.

For organisations: develop a group of your staff

Three routes for schools and providers, depending on whether you want to understand your staff's development needs, deliver the programme, or both. The combined package is the preferred route.

Staff Delivery Development Review

Consultancy only. Understand staff development needs before committing to mentoring. Includes a leadership call, staff self-assessment review and a short written action summary.

From £395

4-Week Staff Mentoring Programme

Mentorship only. The 4-week programme delivered to your staff group, with practical resources and an action plan.

From £395 for up to 6 staff

Combined Review & Mentoring Preferred

Review first, then a 4-week programme tailored to your staff's needs, with a post-programme action summary and recommended next steps.

From £795 for up to 6 staff

Individual coaches can join an open cohort from £50 per person (maximum 10 per cohort). Additional organisation staff beyond the first six are priced per person.

The 4-week programme already includes a light check-in email after completion. Deeper, longer follow-on support is being developed separately as the Mentoring Follow-On Pathway.

How it works

A clear, no-pressure process

Tell us a little about your situation and we'll come back with a clear written recommendation. No call is needed to get started.

Send context or complete a short form

Tell us what you're trying to improve, using the contact form or a short diagnostic where it helps.

Apex reviews the information

We read through your context and look at where the real pressure points and opportunities are.

You receive a written recommendation and quote

A clear written next step: what we'd suggest, why, and what it would cost.

If useful, we arrange a short call

Optional, to clarify any questions. Plenty of work is agreed without one.

Work is confirmed and delivered

Once you're happy, we confirm the scope and get started.

Follow-on support

Keeping things moving after the first piece of work

These extend the core offers once initial work is done. They are not part of the first conversation.

Ongoing Apex Support

For schools and providers who want help turning a plan or review into sustained progress.

Structured check-ins, action reviews, implementation guidance, practical templates and Apex Support Hub access, so agreed actions actually get delivered. Available termly, monthly or annually, scoped to fit. Not unlimited access, and not attached to mentoring by default.

Mentoring Follow-On Pathway

A deeper, longer development option for coaches and staff after the 4-week programme.

The 4-week programme already includes a light check-in email after completion. A more in-depth follow-on, for example observation, review or further development sessions, is being developed separately with greater depth.

About Apex

Apex Sports Consultancy & Mentoring helps schools, providers and coaches strengthen PE, school sport and delivery quality. We pair practical consultancy, reviewing where you are and planning what's next, with mentoring that develops the people doing the delivery.

Apex is led by Sam Vicker, a UEFA B qualified coach with 15+ years' experience across grassroots, academy-linked and senior football, including first-team management in semi-professional football. Alongside that, Sam has extensive school sport and PE experience, and a track record of developing staff, building coaching systems and running the operations behind them.

We keep it honest and useful. Apex tells you straight whether and how we can help, and recommends the support that actually fits, not the biggest package.
